Taproot Kitchen was honored to be invited to cater the Centre County Democratic Committee’s first annual “Fore the Red White & Blue” Golf Tournament and “Star Spangled” Picnic Dinner. The weather cooperated with blue skies and comfortable temperatures enjoyed by golfers and picnicers alike and a grand time was had by all.
Many of Taproot’s signature items were on the menu, starting with chicken skewers with chimichurri sauce, parsnip fritters with buttermilk dipping sauce and watermelon cucumber salad with mint dressing. Other favorites included pulled pork with peach pomegranate or spicy chipotle, Banh Mi sandwiches with Vietnamese slaw and flatbread pizza with seasonal pesto and veggies. To cool off after a day of golf, guests enjoyed rhubarb vanilla cooler and fresh strawberry lemonade.
Event organizers Nanci Rommel and Betsy Whitman worked very hard to organize a special day for attendees, complete with a silent auction and the appearance of special guests. “I heard nothing but the highest of compliments on the delicious menu,” said Nanci R, adding that “it says a lot when many people were enjoying the lemonade bar more than the open bar!” Betsy W. described the desserts as “out-of-this-world” referring to the peach pan dobie (gluten-free) and rhubarb almond cake with homemade whipped cream.
Taproot Kitchen worked closely with Nanci and Betsy to design a menu that best met their needs and featured many of the dishes that have become favorites of TK catering clients.
